2、选择发展性研究课题研究新课题，是进行科学创造的一种方式，研究旧课题（已经有人研究过的问题），也未必不能有所创造，关键是要看能否提出新的见解。科学研究的实践早已多次证明，研究同一课题，人们完全可能产生不同的看法，同样的题目，能做出不同的文章来。
既然是发展性研究，就要比已有的研究有所深入、有所提高，要同已有的研究有所不同。具体来说，进行发展性研究，主要有以下三种情况：（1）补充、深化已有的观点。
这主要是指在已有的研究的基础上，进行更加广泛深入的研究，使已有的研究成果得到丰富或发展，使已有的理论观点得到深化或补充。在科学研究中，任何一种观点的形成，任何一种理论的完善，都要经过一个从不够成熟到比较成熟、从不够深入到比较深入的发展、演化过程。
