I am also exited about the broad approach the programme takes to commercial arbitration law with its widely international and multidisciplinary focus. In my studies thus far at Shandong University, I have come to appreciate the value of cross-disciplinary competence. Studying Law and English side by side has taught me how helpful it can be to look at the issues of one discipline from the viewpoint of another and this is something I wish to continue doing. Whereas my study of English has enabled me to gain a global comparative perspective, I am eager to plunge into a multicultural environment to communicate, learn, and observe in person. And Sweden, being one of the most dynamic countries as well as being the home to one of the most respected international arbitration institutes, the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, is, in my view, the very place to realize my dream. What I most love about law are its rational and fair methods to resolve the conflicts arising between two parties. Because of China's accession into WTO, her capital Beijing being the host city for the 2008 Summer Olympics, and as one of the fastest developing countries, China has increasing involvements in international trade and investment. Therefore, it is likely that there will be more conflicts arising. The best solution to these conflicts, I believe, will be through dialogue and legal mechanisms. That is the reason I am so keen on entering the LLM program in International Commercial Arbitration Law.In my past four years, I have studied every course seriously and achieved excellent academic results. As for law study, I did pretty well, especially in these courses related to business, commercial and international law. In the courses of International Business Law, Foreign Civil and Commercial Law, Selected Readings of Foreign Law Literature, I ranked the number one. Besides, I got A, the highest grade, in the courses of Litigation and Arbitration of International Civil and Commercial Law, WTO Introduction, Foreign Constitution Law, Environment Law. I was also above the 25% out of 30 students (because we are the only double major in our grade and we have our special courses, so we only do the rankings among our classes) in the courses of International Law, Intellectual Property Law, Legal English, and Constitution Law. For English study, in the year 2004, I passed the TEM4 test (Test for English Majors, Band 4), and was awarded the grade “Excellent.” In the year 2005, I passed the TEM8 test, as well as its interpretation test, and in both was awarded the grade “Excellent.” Besides my studies, I have sought to broaden my horizons and to cultivate further my abilities by taking part in various extracurricular activities and self-study projects. In the first semester of my senior year, along with three other students, I took part in the Jessup International Moot Court Law competition as a representative of our university. Our team was awarded the second place prize. Due to almost three months of continuous preparation and the fierce competition in the last stage in Shenzhen, I personally gained immensely from the experience. Not only did my legal knowledge increase significantly. I also improved my teamwork skills of being able to cooperate, understand, and communicate with others. Finally, being a participant in the competition also gave me the confidence to resolve that。
